LR9 Safari: a 9 m river and lake boat for passenger tours

New build to order, in aluminium or HDPE, in the colour of your choice. Delivery two to four months from order.

The LR9 Safari is a shallow-draft excursion boat for rivers, lakes and sheltered water. Passengers sit forward on open benches, with nothing between them and the water. The two crew work from the helm behind them, with a clear view of the passengers and the route ahead. The draught is 0.35 m in aluminium, so it reaches shallows and shorelines that larger boats cannot, and it leaves a small wake.

Passengers
12 passengers plus 2 crew. The same boat is also documented for 20 passengers where a country's rules allow it. CE design category C. The builder's plate allows 22 persons.

Two hulls
Aluminium: 9.0 m x 2.8 m, draught 0.35 m, 2,700 kg. From EUR 82,000.
HDPE: 8.97 m x 2.81 m, draught 0.33 m, 1,560 kg. From EUR 62,000. Close to maintenance free: no corrosion, no anodes, no paint to keep up.
HDPE hulls are welded by our partner Larsen Boat Yard in Estonia. One contract, one contact, one warranty, either way.

Engines
Outboards from Suzuki, Mercury or Yamaha, 200 to 400 hp. 200 hp: 32 knots. 300 hp: 38 knots. 400 hp: 40 knots. A single 300 hp outboard suits most routes. Twin engines where redundancy matters more than running cost. Waterjet or inboard diesel (Yanmar) on request on the aluminium hull. The boat can also be delivered ready for installation, so your local dealer fits and services the engines.

Standard equipment
Hydraulic steering, tempered glass windshield, plexiglass roof over the helm, soft-covered benches, two crew seats, 400 l fuel tank with gauge, navigation and deck lighting, search light, horn, two automatic bilge pumps, railings, fender profile, swimming ladder.

In service
Three LR9 Safaris are carrying passengers: two with a tour operator in northern Albania, and one on the river Main in Frankfurt since 2020.
